Electronic Books at Northwestern: From netLibrary to CogNet Northwestern
University Library has been experimenting with electronic books from
netLibrary since the fall quarter of 2001. Since then our netLibrary
eBook collection has grown from under 2,000 to over 17,000 scholarly,
professional, and reference titles and has been used by Northwestern-affiliated
library users over 10,500 times.
Open Archives: Exposing New Digital Collections to Researchers Around the World The Open Archives
Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is beginning to
show promise as a tool for libraries to share information about their
digitized collections. The Committee for Institutional Cooperation (CIC)
has two demonstration projects underway to gather metadata about these
collections and build search engines around them. Smart Classrooms at NU Smart Classrooms,
also called electronic or technology-enhanced classrooms, create new
opportunities in teaching and learning by integrating networking, computers,
digital audio and multimedia technologies in the classroom space. |
