Electronic Books at Northwestern: From netLibrary to CogNet

Northwestern University Library has been experimenting with electronic books from netLibrary since the fall quarter of 2001. Since then our netLibrary eBook collection has grown from under 2,000 to over 17,000 scholarly, professional, and reference titles and has been used by Northwestern-affiliated library users over 10,500 times.

Open Archives: Exposing New Digital Collections to Researchers Around the World

The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is beginning to show promise as a tool for libraries to share information about their digitized collections. The Committee for Institutional Cooperation (CIC) has two demonstration projects underway to gather metadata about these collections and build search engines around them.

Smart Classrooms at NU

Smart Classrooms, also called electronic or technology-enhanced classrooms, create new opportunities in teaching and learning by integrating networking, computers, digital audio and multimedia technologies in the classroom space.
