High Performance Computing

Cluster computing systems are changing the face of high performance computing for researchers at universities. These systems link cheap commodity processors with fast network switches to supercede the computing performance of yesterday's Supercomputer servers, which cost 10 and 100 times more. Come learn how cluster systems are being put to the advantage of NU researchers. What are the weaknesses of these new cluster systems? How can you decide if these cluster systems hold advantages for you? Experiences from running under production conditions in Chemistry and alternative architecture cluster will be discussed.
